A project to increase women’s participation in achieving peace and security in Mindanao will be launched on February 6, 2014 by the Women’s Peace Table, a network of women’s groups created to ensure women’s voices are heard in the peace process. The event, to be held at Miriam College in Quezon City, will highlight the role of women not only as victims in times of war but also as actors for change in post-war reconstruction. After the signing of the final annex on normalization by the government and the MILF last week, the Women’s Peace Table is preparing for legislative advocacy to ensure that Congress passes the Bangsamoro Basic Law as the foundation of the Bangsamoro as a new political entity.
